An Arts Administration graduate of the Yale Drama School, where he was also Assistant Managing Director and Company Photographer for the Yale Repertory Theatre, Bill Baker worked as an Arts Administrator, University Professor and Professional Theatrical Producer for a number of years before deciding twenty odd years ago to translate his long standing love of photography into a full time career. He has extensive experience in performing arts photography, still photography for motion pictures, recruitment and development photography for preparatory schools, universities, colleges and hospitals and feature photography for the magazine and other aspects of the Patrolmen's Benevolent Association of the New York City Police Department.. His photographs have appeared in major national publications, are included in the permanent art collections of Adelphi University and the Yale Repertory Theatre and one (of Lionel Hampton) hangs in a museum in Switzerland. In addition to his background in performing arts administration, academia and photography, Bill is a past president of the Long Island Chapter of the American Society of Media Photographers, sits on the Advisory Boards for the Photography programs at Suffolk County Community College and Briarcliffe College and served in the United States Navy as the Operations Officer of an Atlantic Fleet Destroyer.

Among other places, his photographs have appeared in TIME, NEWSWEEK, The New York Times, Newsday, The New Haven Register, The London Observer, have been published by Random House and Macmillan and have won numerous awards.
